Haotian is driven by the environmental and energy crisis around our lives to conduct impactful thermal research to utilize energy more cleanly and efficiently. He is currently working as a post-doc research associate in Ray W. Herrick Laboratories at School of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University. Haotian completed his mater and PhD at Purdue University with Prof. Justin Weibel and Prof. Eckhard Groll. During his PhD study, he also worked to conduct interdisciplinary research in Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a visiting scholar.

Haotian enjoys teaching and mentoring student, in addition to mentoring and supervising students within his research group, he received the Ward A. Lambert Teaching Fellowship in 2020 where he got the chance to teach ME 20000, Thermodynamics I as a primary instructor with more than 90 students. He also led two teams of undergrad students to participate in the Engineering Without Boarders USA - Chill Challenge: Affordable, Off-Grid Refrigeration.
